Description:
Join us for our monthly General Meeting for a fabulous networking opportunity and a very informative guest speaker. C-TRAN’s 20-Year Transit Development Plan (TDP) is looking into the future to determine the levels, placement and modes of transit services needed to meet the transportation demands of a growing community. Once adopted, this long-range plan will guide C-TRAN through capital facility and service design options over two decades. In 2008, the planning process focused on three alternative concepts – Coverage Based Growth; Productivity Based Growth; and Regional High Capacity Transit. During the public process, feedback on the three alternatives suggested the development of an additional service alternative. Adding to what was heard from constituents, further technical analysis, a review of financial assumptions and the results of ridership projections all pointed to a preferred service alternative that would incorporate the best attributes of the three previous alternatives. The Preferred Alternative adds new service to rapidly growing areas, includes provisions for light rail in downtown Vancouver, adds C-TRAN’s first bus rapid transit corridor, and provides more service in core areas.
