Description:
In the early 20th century in Mexico, arts and politics became closely intertwined when the country¡¯s leader redefined the core values of the State. Artists became important spokesmen during this crucial transition in Mexico¡¯s history, denouncing social injustices by depicting the popular in order to join a post-revolutionary moment that called for action. To celebrate the centennial anniversary of Mexican independence, the Blanton will present an exhibition highlighting the work and relationship of two great artists of the 20th century in Mexico: Jos¨¦ Luis Cuevas and Manuel Alvarez Bravo.
